Google Gemini AI assistant App version now supports “memory” and “temporary chat” functions.
The details of the two functions are as follows:
1. “Memory”:
When this feature is turned on, Gemini remembers and learns from the user’s conversations, remembering the information and preferences shared by the user during continuous chat, ultimately allowing Gemini to “familiarize itself with all the user’s backgrounds like an old friend for more natural conversations.”

When the feature goes live, the “Saved Information” page in the in-app account menu will be replaced by a new “Memories” page, but the original feature will still be available, and users can turn off the new feature at any time.
This feature currently covers Gemini 2.5 Pro users in some countries or regions, and Gemini 2.5 Flash users in the EU, UK, Switzerland and other regions will also be able to use this feature in the coming weeks.
2. “Temporary chat”:
The concept is similar to the “incognito mode” of web browsers, which allows users to have conversations with Gemini without affecting future chats, where users can discuss private questions with Gemini or brainstorm an idea that is different from the usual style.

In detail, content in “temporary chats” does not appear in the user’s history or Gemini App activity, nor is it used by Google to train AI models or to personalize the Gemini experience. However, the chat history will still be stored for 72 hours to respond to and address user questions.
Users can find this feature in the gradually rolled out hamburger menu (IT House Note: dotted chat bubble icon), click on the icon to enter the “temporary chat”, the relevant function has reached some users today, and is planned to be fully launched in the next few weeks.
